John Phillips, P.E., is a Senior Consulting Engineer with The Warren Group in Charleston, South Carolina.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Carolina.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana and Ohio. NCEES registered as a model engineer. NCEES registered with The United States Council for International Engineering Practice (USCIEP)
• Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator and a Certified Fire and Explosion Instructor by the National Association of Fire Investigators
• Certified Building Inspector with the International Code Council (ICC)
• Over 15 years experience in forensic engineering. Testified as an expert witness at trials and depositions in state and federal court
• Over 25 years in crane and heavy equipment experience. Designed crane systems, supervised crane installations, tested and certified cranes and lifting equipment. Project engineer for maintenance and certification of nuclear weapon lifting and handling systems
• Determine cause and scope of damage for crane, hoist, and other lift equipment incidents; including overloads, tipovers, equipment failures, and damaged loads
• Determine cause, origin, and scope of damage for equipment and structural fires ranging from individual equipment to entire industrial facilities.
• Evaluate commercial and industrial facilities for scope of damage and cost to repair from flooding and hurricane damage.
• Evaluate consumer and industrial equipment for product defects as well as guarding and safety issues.
• Member of ASM (American Society of Materials) and ASTM (American Society of Testing and Materials). Voting member of ASTM Performance of Buildings, Forensic Sciences, Forensic Engineering, and Ships & Marine committees.
